Youth and Senior Cards

Riders age 5-18 or 65 and over can apply for a Youth or Senior Clipper card by mail, email or fax. Or get a card in person. You'll need to verify your birth date with an accepted form of identification for a Youth or Senior Clipper card.

Tip: Now you can transfer your existing plastic Youth or Senior Clipper card to your phone and pay fares with your mobile wallet. You can also manage your account with the Clipper app. If you have not set up an online account, you can call Clipper Customer Service at 877.878.8883 for assistance.

RTC ClipperCard

Riders under age 65 with qualifying disabilities can apply for a Regional Transportation Connection (RTC) Clipper card. It works like any other Clipper card. Just load it with any combination of cash value and discounted passes. You can also use it as a photo ID when paying with cash.

To apply for an RTC Clipper card, you’ll need to visit a participating transit agency location. Qualified applicants are then mailed an RTC Clipper card. For more information about eligibility, how to apply, how to renew and how attendant cards work, visit 511.org. (opens in new window)

After receiving your card in the mail, you can set up an online account by calling Clipper Customer Service at 877.878.8883 (TDD/TTY 711 or 800.735.2929).

Clipper START

Riders ages 19-64 with qualifying income can apply to the Clipper START program to receive 50% off single-ride bus, BART, rail and ferry transit fares.

To apply for the Clipper START program, Bay Area residents must meet certain income requirements. You can apply online or by mail. Information about the program, qualifications and available discounts can be found on the Clipper START website.(opens in new window)
